About Us
Larry Deal has been on a quest for the most energy-efficient and affordable home since building his first earth-berm passive solar house in 1984. To make this dream a reality, Larry formed New Earth Shelters in 2012 after spending years in the Timber Frame building industry. Larry and his team believe that homes should be sustainable, energy-efficient, and comfortable. A smaller, well-designed home can be much more rewarding to live in than the aimless sprawl of interior spaces that dominated the 1990s.
Larry graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in psychology. After being in the helping field for four years, his dreams led him to construction and real estate.
"Helping people has always been a priority in my life. I have always been a giver and have aspired to give.
back not only to the community but also to our beautiful earth."
Superior Homes of North Carolina is Larry's effort to build what he thinks has been missing in our housing industry: strong, safe, and affordable homes.

Larry is a multi-instrumentalist who plays bluegrass music at local venues with his band, The Big Deal Band. This keeps him grounded and energized. He has always been a dreamer and finds comfort in that he is not the only one.
