Total Cost to Build a
Completed Superior Home

Larry's Home

There are many factors to consider in the cost of building a complete home, including geographic location, lot topography, availability of utilities, soil type, and others. When you purchase a home kit package from us and have us erect the structure, a good portion of your cost is fixed and predictable.

Based on our experience building in McDowell County, North Carolina, we can give you an idea of the cost, assuming a level lot with very few trees in or near a town with public utilities. This is just a sample; your lot and your home choice will differ.

This price model is based on The Sassafras. It assumes that you will be your general contractor. If you have a general contractor to build this for you, you can discuss costs with him or her. This also assumes that you will be doing some of the work yourself, such as installing trim, installing cabinets, staining concrete floors, installing interior doors, painting, and doing all the miscellaneous smaller jobs that come with building a home. These tasks are within the realm of most people with general construction skills. You can learn the details of this work by attending one of our Superior Home Building Seminars.

Before you can determine the bottom-line cost of your home, you will need to do a detailed estimate with pricing from lumber supply companies and subcontractors. Estimates are covered in our optional seminar.

Based on this estimate, if you do some of the work yourself, you can build one of our Superior Homes for approximately $200 per square foot. Every area is different, so it is your responsibility to get local prices before you make any home decisions. A large majority of the extra costs associated with building a home are associated with the amenities and types of materials you choose. Windows, doors, countertops, and cabinets can add significantly to your cost based on the type and manufacturer.
